The 2015 girls volleyball team had a successful season on a number of fronts. This year's varsity team compiled an overall record of 18-9-1, finishing in 2nd place in the Empire League and advancing to the second round of the CIF playoff. During the season, the girls also had a strong showing in tournament play, winning the silver division of the Kennedy Tournament and finishing as runner-up in the Surf City Classic.
A few departing seniors have already made plans to play in college next year. Tessa Sestito will be playing next year at the Massachusettes College of Liberal Arts where she has been recruited as a setter. Celeste Chen will be playing libero next year for Carleton College in Minnesota. Mikelle Taylor is currently considering an offer to play at Colorado Christian as an outside hitter.
Many players from the program, seniors and returner alike, will be continuing to play club volleyball. Junior Kylie Keller in particular looks to build off a successful stint with the USA High Performance program for USA volleyball. She was selected from a tryout of over 100 players from around Southern Californiab to the High Performance Team that represented the USA in an international competition in Des Moines that featured teams from the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Brazil, China and other countries around the world.
With a strong returning class and a good crop of JV and Frosh-Soph players, the Tigers will look to build off this year's success in 2016. Go Tigers!
